Seed treatment of canola (Brassica napus) with the endomycorrhizal fungus Piriformospora indica does not reduce clubroot

چکیده

A Basidiomycota endomycorrhizal fungus, Piriformospora indica Verma, colonizes and promotes the growth of canola (Brassica napus L.) other Brassica crops can reduce diseases crops. Clubroot is an important disease caused by obligate, soil-borne pathogen Plasmodiophora brassicae Woronin. The effect P. on clubroot severity in was assessed replicated room studies. Seed treated with using a proprietary process. Microscopic observation confirmed that roots grown from seed were colonized indica; however, did not consistently promote canola.

Ethylene Production during Development of Mustard (Brassica juncea) and Canola (Brassica napus) Seed.

An open, continuous flow system was used to investigate ethylene production during degreening of maturing seed of mustard (Brassica juncea cv Cutlass and cv Lethbridge 22A) and canola (Brassica napus cv Westar and cv Alto). Isolated mustard seed evolved higher amounts of ethylene than those of canola, and this was particularly evident both early in embryogeny and later during the desiccation ph...

Sampling plan and test protocol for the semiquantitative detection of genetically modified canola (Brassica napus) seed in bulk canola seed.

Using a statistical approach, sampling plans for the semiquantitative detection of genetically modified (GM) canola within a bulk seed sample can be developed and tailored to meet different GM thresholds, costs, and confidence limits. This is achieved by changing the number of subsamples analyzed, the number of seeds per subsample, and the percentage of positive results allowed. These sampling ...

Isocitrate lyase is essential for pathogenicity of the fungus Leptosphaeria maculans to canola (Brassica napus).

A pathogenicity gene has been identified in Leptosphaeria maculans, the ascomycetous fungus that causes blackleg disease of canola (Brassica napus). This gene encodes isocitrate lyase, a component of the glyoxylate cycle, and is essential for the successful colonization of B. napus. It was identified by a reverse genetics approach whereby a plasmid conferring hygromycin resistance was inserted ...

Seed viability, germination and seedling growth of canola (Brassica napus L.) as influenced by chemical mutagens

Mutation induction is considered as an effective way to enrich plant genetic variation, particularly for traits with a very low level of genetic variation. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the effect of different dosages of chemical mutagens on seed germination, seed viability and seedling growth characteristics and to identify optimum treatment conditions for chemical mutagens bas...

EFFECTS OF NaCl TREATMENTS ON SEED GERMINATION AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF CANOLA (BRASSICA NAPUS L.) CULTIVARS

Effects of salt stress on germination, seedling growth and activity of antioxidant enzymes in leaves of six cultivars of canola (Brassica napus L.) were investigated on two F1 hybrids (Hyola401, Hyola330) and four open pollinated cultivars (Zarfam, Okapi, RGs003 and Sarigol). Seeds were germinated under various levels of salinity (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mM NaCl solutions). An increase in NaCl ...
